Cooler Than Yo Mama.

My parents wants to start a blog! It’s rather miraculous you see. They’re technologically averse, hate small fonts and harbors a deep seated paranoia towards the internet - i.e. like all living relics of our time. I kid. They’re probably reading this anyhow.

One of the reasons for starting up a website for them is because all of their friends are doing it. My parents want to keep up with the times. My parents want to be cool. NYAHA! Peer pressure was all it took!

I had to pick their blogging platform. First criteria? It must be free (for now). It was a toss between Blogger and WordPress. I picked WordPress. It seems to be the most user-friendly admin interface around with their big comfortable fonts. It allows you to monitor traffic in detail. Plus it has a supporting infrastructure for a greater search engine optimization. I am going to pretend I know what that means.

Now we’re picking names for their blog. It has to be short and sweet. It has to be memorable. It has to have an Indonesian flavour. It has to be a brand - a philosophy all at once. Dad picked out Sindung Riwut. Sindung Riwut is a name of a Javanese warrior - a pendekar from Gunung Gembol. Hee hee.. gunung gembol sounds funny. I googled it to check what the intraw3bs has to say just in case it happens to be a name of a porn star. Who knows how kinky Indonesian pornography scene can be. (I KID! I KID! I SWEAR!) Instead I found pages and pages of dubious love mantras to make the object of your desire to fall madly and passionately in love with you.

WAHAHAHAHA.. WHAT THE HAY?!

We settled on another name instead, something about sparks and light in Bahasa Java. It’s Sufistic, so they say. They’re so apprehensive about their FIRST BLAWG POST. I’ll have to teach them how to operate wordpress.. oh boy that should be fun.

A few days ago my mom, the more technologically savvy of the two, asked me to teach her Photoshop! She wants to make a collage of old people. At this rate, it is only a matter of time and distance before they ask about setting up a facebook account.

At least, my mom is cooler than your mom! HAH!
