Appeared in YOKOHAMA 2008: International Triennale of Contemporary Art
13 September – 30 November 2008

It’s weird but I have admired her other works but never figured out the name of the artist behind it until now. I should do more of this more often: finding who did it and remembering that name. But if I do it’ll ruin pleasant surprises like this.

You know moment that happens in movies where you’re standing before a person who has always been there in front of you but now looking at them in a different way, saying:

I have loved you all along.

or something like that.

Laughing Out Loud.

May 5, 2009

Documenting a life is neither truthful nor deceitful.
We pick details for vultures, keeping the best parts hidden.
Life is worth the laughter though I often forget.
This is how I remember:

While i was researching for my finance project, i came across this.

A very good explanation by Jonathan Jarvis animating the credit crunch/financial tsunami/etc. in a fetching shade of green.

Okay, it is not difficult to like this man. He is making it too easy for people to like him. TOO EASY. dangnabit.

He will be making a weekly video address on Youtube. How innovative is that? I think it’s a brilliant move for someone who is easing into the role of well, taking over the biggest superpower in the world. Given the financial crisis, US is standing on shaky ground. From public relations perspective this would allow him to reassure and quell concerns of the public by really taking an active communication strategy. Outreach is the key word and what better than to appeal to their base: youtube.

These pinhole cameras have a lot of ready-to-print sass. Cut them out and paste it all together.

I like taking pictures of people, especially when they’re unaware. You can capture the things they could never see for themselves: grace, nonchalance, nerves, innocence. Sometimes you don’t need a great  equipment, just a sense of time – a nanosecond before their face breaks into contempt or laughter. People are rather predictable once you know them.

I stumbled unto this gallery by Callie Shell of Barack Obama. I like her work.

I saw this picture on Flickr with the caption as above.

Just. Brilliant.

He had another photo in the same set

And it turns out they’re part of a Six Word Story.

It’s a nifty project: shoot a picture & add a six word caption. Simple!

Crestock has come up with a brilliant round up of

The past year has been an amazing period for those wishing to learn the ropes of design, whether you’re a noob just getting into the game or a seasoned designer or programmer. As we enter 2008, let’s take a look back at some of the most popular articles, resources, and tutorials that helped those who toiled away on the web everyday.

I have been way behind the times in the realm of web design. I really want to go back and learn how to code from scratch. I feel like an utter relic not knowing how to operate XHTML or even CSS properly. In the past two years alone, web design have grown in leaps and bounds incorporating elements of good old typography. It’s kinda funny how it’s gone from shiny slick flash merely 5 years ago which was so popular to simpler and yet more elegant design. Presentation is key.

This is why Jan Sochor’s portfolio of photo essays is just breathtaking. Set against a very simple, clean layout, his photography to stand out and speaks quietly but clearly. The pictures are brilliantly vivid with sweat, grit, flesh and colour.

83 Ways to Waste Your Time

February 18, 2008

Diesel and Adidas created a lovely union in the name of jeans. Incorporating elements of web 2.0, they’re inviting you to participate and be a part of their marketing effort by submitting pictures on how you waste your time. They’ve come up with 83 no less. I love love love this type of marketing effort and the sheer redundancy of it. The pictures are just brilliant.
